Experimental Characterization and Modeling of Automotive Dry Clutch Friction Lining Wear

The paper presents results of experimental characterization of dry clutch friction material wear based on using custom-designed pin-on-disc and particularly disc-on-disc tribometers. Characterization relates to both run-in effects and stationary wear behavior with respect to various influencing parameters such as temperature, slip speed, and closing time. A cycle-based wear model is presented, as well.
