Experimental Characterization of Dry Dual Clutch Elastic Components with Application to Clutch Modelling

Powertrain Modelling and Control Conference (PMC2014), Bradford, UK, 2014
Quality of model-based dry dual clutch control depends on the precision of model used. In order to improve the previously developed clutch axial dynamics model, an upgraded model is proposed which incorporates compliance elements of individual components. The emphasis of the paper is on experimental characterization of clutch components using a newly developed manual powered spindle based test rig. The test rig precision is confirmed by comparison of characterization results with the results obtained on a universal material testing machine. The new model is built using the obtained components characteristics and validated against the experimental data from the full clutch test rig.
